Benten Culture: Japanese Benten is one of seven Japanese divinities of good luck. She is the only one of the seven who was a Goddess. Considered the queen of the sea, she was a woman who changed into a dragon at will. She protected her devotees from the earthquakes the dragons caused. She calmed them and prevented them from thrashing around under the islands. She gives inspiration, talent, wealth, good fortune and romance to those who honored her.
