-Born on the 23rd of November, 1957; -Raised in Johannesburg; -Began art training under Mike Wald in 1991, 1992; -Obtained a BA (FA) at UNISA in 2001, majoring in drawing; -As yet has not exhibited; Gina works from an emotional place, rather than an intellectual one. Using nature as her main source of reference, her work is an exploration of depth and layers, and an experimentation with the interactions between colours, light, and textures. Gina uses the challenging medium of pastel on paper to realise this vision, and each drawing becomes a personal history, a journey of discovery. She takes her inspiration from the Abstract Expressionists, relating to their ideology of spontaneity and the expression of emotion in their work. Each piece is a continuum of the previous ones, and the shapes and forms that intermingle and float are linked throughout her works.
