Portraiture is the art of depicting specific human individuals as themselves. The goal is to capture the personality of the individual as well as to get a realistic physical likeness.

I paint in a traditional way building the painting up in layers of oil paint . I allow each layer to dry before subsequent layers are added. The result is to enrich the colours. I take my time to achieve these effects. Depending on the size and subject a painting will take at least 40 hours of work to complete over a 10 week period . Oil paint is slow to dry and needs at least 3 months before varnishing.

Prices vary depending on your requirements. As a guide ,I charge £115 for an oil portrait 18 inches x 14 inches. A portrait 12 inches x 10 inches will cost  £65
The painting can be on canvas , canvas board ,hardboard or wood. If framing is required , professional framing in your approved style can be provided. The  portrait can be painted from your photographs, sent through the post or by e-mail (a good quality image is required for a detailed portrait). A sketch is drawn up of the proposed painting which is e-mailed to you for your approval .  When the painting is completed I will e-mail a photograph of the portrait again for your approval.
